[edit] Acquisition
Ebon Vanguard points can be earned by:
- Killing foes and obtaining shrine bonuses while under the effects of Vanguard Patrol.
- Doing quests for the Ebon Vanguard.
- Completing dungeons in the Charr Homelands.
- Vanquishing areas in the Charr Homelands.
- Turning in an at least half-completed Hero's Handbook or Master Dungeon Guide to Gedrel of Ascalon.
- Completing certain Zaishen Bounties or Zaishen Missions.
Players who have reached rank 8 in the title (Valued Agent) can no longer accumulate Vanguard reputation points in Normal Mode except through quest rewards. To achieve ranks 9 and 10 the points must be earned in Hard Mode, or through Zaishen Challenge Quests. Players who attain rank 8 in the Eye of the North Allegiance title tracks receive a Veteran buff when they speak to a bounty NPC in Normal Mode. These buffs always give you an allegiance bonus that helps you in battle every 25 kills instead of bonuses that give reputation points.

- This title is the only title in Eye of the North that has any use outside of EotN, mainly in the Ascalon Areas of Prophecies.

- When this title was first introduced, it actually offered armor versus fire damage in the Charr Homelands region, not versus Charr. ArenaNet changed it shortly after the release of Guild Wars Eye of the North, also reducing the armor bonus.
