Rurik, Prince of Ascalon, 1080 A.E.
Welcome to my humble little page. I was introduced to the brilliant online game Guild Wars through a few friends back in 2005, but I wasn't convinced to try it yet since I was mostly a hardcore console gamer (PS2, X-Box) at that time. Finally after months of putting it off, I purchased Guild Wars: Prophecies in February of 2006 and settled with my first character, Etienne Valmont, which was made on February 11th of that year. The second profession I automatically turned my attention to was the mesmer, and have since remained a loyal and avid fan of that class for obvious reasons. I won't bother to continue on with mundane details except that I had time to experience Prophecies just before the release of Factions on April 28th, 2006 and continue to cherish every experience on Guild Wars I have. Other minor things about me are: I'm a very experienced player in the PvE field of the game with aptitude in PvP, and am easily trainable for structured PvP as well.
Aside from being a "pretty good player," as many people I know have been so kind to compliment me with, I am a very experienced and rather good role-player. While not claiming to be a writer, which is considered much different than a role-player, I would classify myself as a hybrid of both and have a very extensive, detailed biography on this character in particular. I mentioned this because I have been searching for an RP guild that follows the storyline and events of the game but builds characters off of these. If any officers for a serious role-play guild that is inclined to PvE and PvP as well stumbles across my page, feel free to contact me; I have been waiting for the opportunity to join an organized and friendly RP guild.
People generally think I am condescending or rude; this is not true. I'm just one to prefer gaming with efficient players who are familiar with skills across all professions and are able to take suggestions or opinions with a grain of salt. However, we all know this is hardly possible on an online game since most people resort to immaturity before rationality, and approach others with i337 5p3@l<. I refrain from using such speak and am pretty civilized, amiable and prudent in my GW playtime. If you are a troll or think rank means player quality, then refrain from speaking to me in-game or on my would-be talk page. I'm not one for such nonsense, and am here to enjoy my GW experience with people who are inclined to play the game for what it is, instead of trying to pop each others' ego bubbles so to speak. If you have witnessed me acting rude or condescending to others, then they probably deserved it. If I have acted that way to you personally, you probably deserved it.
I will let the following be known... while I'm generally civil to most people, I don't like a lot of the player base for Guild Wars. Most of the people here are unintelligent and feign intelligence by thinking punctuation (albeit severely flawed in ways only one with a high level of English can spot) will earn them "cool" points. I don't warm up to people quickly unless we hit it off, nor do I like talking to others on the wiki much. So don't bother trying to be all cutesy and friendly with me when I don't even know you. My opinions can be harsh, too. Thanks. ;D
