Born to a wealthy Krytan landowner, Kao had a very comfortable upbringing. His mother and father spoiled him rotten. When Kao was eight years old, his mother gave birth to a young girl named Nadine. Unfortunately, Kao's mother died during the childbirth. Since she was the primary source of income, the family was left broke. Nadine constantly blamed herself for her mothers death, and the family was forced to live in squalour. It was at this point, Kao's father urged his son to learn the way of the elementalist, to help protect him and his family. It was at fifteen years old, Kao somewhat disillusioned by the system, gained an interest in politics and diplomacy. He wanted to make a difference, but he didn't want to join the army since he had to help with his families income. He slowly climbed the political ladder, mainly thanks to the roots his mother had in the Krytan leadership. Unfortunately, due to the ties with the White Mantle, Kao's family was heavily involved in Mursaat worship. Kao wasn't particularly fond of the idea of worshipping this so called 'Unseen Ones'. Kao's sister was a very devoted Mursaat worshipper, and eventually went on to join the White Mantle as a knight. This day, aged 29, Kao serves as a Krytan senator.
