[edit] More Info?

I know there's more lore on a lot of stuff in these catagories. can anyone fill them in?

[edit] Rework needed

Rather than a list (which is simply reproducing the contents of Category:Lore), I think this should be a text description of what constitutes "lore" in the Guild Wars universe with a link to the category for the list of related articles. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 14:42, 6 April 2007 (EDT)

this page seems to be a little redundent and pointless the lore link on the main page should link directly to the catagory:lore section. Arcane Law 00:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't think so. I agree with Barek. Seeing a huge list of many small chunks of information in the category concerning Tyria's past is very unappealing, and I wouldn't feel very inclined to just randomly click one of them. Having a nice, organized version I feel would make it a lot more inviting for people to learn. Perhaps consider the page a portal to the more in-depth accounts of lore. --Talonz Image:User Talonz sig.gif // 08:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
I think I'll work on this myself... --Talonz Image:User Talonz sig.gif // 08:11, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
I think what I did today was a good start to this! --Talonz Image:User Talonz sig.gif // 08:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Forgotten..

I think the bit after talking about the Giganticus Lupicus should be changed. It says that the Forgotten were summoned from the Rift, which is the center of the Mists. Instead it should probably say that they were summoned from across the Mists. The reason I say this is because we don't have a definitive on the Forgotten's homeworld. Gmr Leon 22:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Seeing as you seem to be a lore master, I'd say "be bold". Change what is wrong/misleading :) - anja talk 23:01, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

It should also be changed because Giganticus Lupicus would basically be "Giant Dog/Canine" NOT "Great Giant" -_-

[edit] All three continents?

Is it confirmed that the three continents we know are the only three? I understood the number of continents was not yet known (there might be a lot more continents). Etienne 16:59, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

When there is more, we'll add more. -- ab.er.rant 17:19, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
My understanding is that Guild Wars 2 is a breakaway from the world we know, from the three existing continents, to a new world. This would leave the "first" Guild Wars, as it will coem to exist as, as a finished product and not to be changed. Therein, the three continents would remain the only continents; any others would remain as pure speculation or as legend, such as Orr. --72.148.243.147 02:33, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Mr. I.P. that is incorrect, GW2 takes place in the continent of Tyria *and maybe combined with Elona's Northwest area *Crystal Desert as a whole (which includes the Desolation and between the two)*. -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 03:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I've replaced "After the Exodus, the three continents plunged into very different situations." with "After the Exodus, the three known continents plunged into very different situations.". -- Image:User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:49, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

The lore on Rotscale is in the first paragraph of Rotscale's page - and the rest would be on the bottom of the page via a link. -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 03:33, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] until someone provides links to half this shit there's no reason to believe some shitter didn't just pull this out of his ass

If you can't define exactly what you're disputing, I'll be removing the tag. Your current edit is not how it is meant to be used. -- FreedomBound 19:05, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't care how the template is "meant" to be used. If you really want, I can just add a tag under every single section, if this is a prerequisite to actually addressing the point I'm making. — derp de derp derp a tum tee tiddly tum ta tum Maf
Go fuck yourself pls, your wikipediass QQ is no good here. 67.159.44.138 19:14, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
There is Nothing to Dispute. I don't see your problem Mafaraxas. Please don't revert again Mafaraxes , because you would break the 1RR rule.♥ Ariyen ♀ 19:15, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
oh no, not 1RR, whatever will I do? So does anyone have a problem with me including the history of the ooze in this article? I've written something up on the side and I think it will contribute greatly to the lore we currently have here. — derp de derp derp a tum tee tiddly tum ta tum Maf 19:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
I can't really see how that'd fit. It's not part of the Main storylines. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 21:02, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
they're highly related to the story, the player character has to struggle against them to unite the Asura to overcome the Destroyers. Surely knowing the lore of the ooze would really help increase the depth of the game. just because it doesn't have a face doesn't mean it doesn't have feelings. — derp de derp derp a tum tee tiddly tum ta tum Maf 23:07, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Firstly maf, change your sig, its disruptively long and unneeded. Secondly please point out the bits of the article which are not based on official Anet lore and I will begin removing the unsubstantiated sections. Also no this is not the place for fan fiction, so don't add your ooze stuff. -- Salome 23:21, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Sources? Ok, I'll make it easy on you:

Dates were taken from Timeline. Trust me, nothing there is theory or fake. I didn't even put in things which are commonly disputed! -- Konig/talk 00:31, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Shortening the Current Page

I think if it was reworded or so shorted just enough that people wouldn't spend too long reading on it. I don't suggest splits as that wouldn't work for Lore . it's not what I think the Page would even stand for. After all we have links at the bottom to the history of each continent, Maybe just a smaller history of the main of all three, basically what links all three together. 173.23.84.231 18:58, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

If all of the info is substantiated by ANET lore then personally I see no reason to change the page. -- Salome 19:04, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I suppose a few sentences could be removed/combined. But the Lore Page was meant to be a summary/introduction to lore. The first two sections show the overall "very long before the game" lore (which only exists elsewhere in the official articles except for a little on Gods of Tyria and Tyria (world) - both which pertains to the exodus and giving magic), the third is specific pre-game lore of the individual games. If I wanted, I could have made it probably twice as long, this is a short version of a full summary. Anything less would be creating a stub article. The Lore page is summarizing History of Tyria (work), An Empire Divided, History of Cantha, History of Elona, GW:EN and Now, Storyline of Prophecies, Storyline of Factions, Storyline of Nightfall, and Storyline of Eye of the North (which those storyline pages should be completed... Maybe a later project) while keeping out spoilers. Personally, I think it is a good summary. -- Konig/talk 23:42, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I still say this is a great page so why the banner. I dont think it is long as long as it describes all that it has to describe.--Yours faithfully Wysth 16:33, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
