[edit] Not Working

As of October 12th update, this title along with the Lightbringer's Gaze are not working. --Racthoh 06:19, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Correction: Lightbringer is not working where its suppose too. Meaning in DoA and torment areas in Nightfall. Its not suppose to work in Slaver's Exile, and thats I'm sure why this was changed in the last update to remove this from happening. But the side effect of losing the LB title functionality in Torment areas of Nightfall I'm sure was not intended... HTIngram 07:45, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

As of Oct 18th update, LB title and skills are working as expected again in Torment and DoA. TY Anet. HTIngram 06:28, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Does this effect damage done from spells (such as Flare)? 70.128.40.147 23:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

It affects all direct damage, so yes --Rayd 23:04, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Challenge Missions appear to be exempt from the bonus effect, such as The Shadow Nexus. Even outside of Challenge Missions some Necromancer skills are effected by it, and some aren't. The unconditional damage from Shadow Strike and Lifebane Strike for instance, DOES get the bonus, but the conditional and lifestealing damage does not. Other skills that directly steal health such as Vampiric Gaze, Vampiric Swarm, Unholy Feast, Strip Enchantment, and Barbed Signet do NOT get any bonus applied whatsoever. And hexes that trigger on an action of the target, like Spoil Victor and Spiteful Spirit do not appear to get the bonus either. Wand damage and direct physical damage, such as melee, DO get the bonus - which is more than likely the implied intent of the title effect. Blavyn 23:56, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

well life stealing isnt damage so it will not get a bonus and with spoil victor, a target loses heatlh, it doesnt take damage, and with spiteful spirit, the target takes shadow damage, which is armor ignoring, whihc is why, i think, it doesnt get a boost

Is the damage reduction applied after all other forms of damage reduction? If so, a 55HP monk shouldnt gat any damage at all at about r5 right? Marcus.

I'm not sure Marcus. =( I can't test it out for you either. And Blavyn, Life Stealing and Health Loss are not damage, therefore would not logically be affected by this title. So all of the skills you just mentioned are working correctly. The Challenge missions not being affected seems a little off to me, but is probably that way to prevent rank descrimination. 72.81.247.139 06:21, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Life stealing would ignore Protective Spirit anyway, killing the monk.

[edit] Percentages

...are multiplicative. 40% + 20% + 20% + 15% = 1.4*1.2*1.2*1.15=231% Boom 88.169.112.155 16:13, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Revisions

I've added a link under a new section entitled "See Also" to the Guide to farming Lightbringer promotion points. --Kheraz Zarahi 23:58, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Will not work on...

Shouldn't we take off Shiroken? This doesn't work on them in nightfall either... leaving it there seems to imply it does. 58.106.44.4 08:43, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

There is a bolded "not" in front of them. Don't see what more we could do? Backsword 09:26, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Does this affect sliver armor?

Well, does it? --Sam6555 21:58, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Uh... yeah. lol -- Halogod35 22:43, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Does it affect Damage? [/sarcasm]. It affects ALL damage that you deal. That means ALL. Whether Holy, Hammer, Hot, Peanutbutter, whatever! Paddymew 12:18, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
except shadow damage :)

Even with domn hexes like empathy and VoR. I can understand the question because i dont think intensity effects enchant/hex dmg does it?--Justice 17:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

That's not damage, it's health degeneration. Freedom Bound 17:48, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I need to learn to read the whole sentence, sorry, saw hexes and stopped. Freedom Bound 17:50, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

well it actually does effect enchants/hexes(intensity does). I coulda swore it didnt but just tried it ingame again and it effects iw and vow/empathy/backfire. Oh and it stacks multiplicatively (im sure that word is messed up!). intenisty + urals hammer = 56%, not sure how this title figures into this but multiplied out it would be some serious dmg Justice 18:06, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

To the no name who inserts comments mid paragraph, (except shadow dmg), thats still dmg and it is effected aswell.--Justice 08:10, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia?

In Islam (according to wikipedia), Lucifer was refered to as "Shaitan" (trans. enemy/rebel/evil) after his fall. The dragon in GW2 is called Zhaitan... coincidence? O_o

what that has doing whit lightbringer? 85.131.56.200 07:38, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Lucifer(latin) and Phosphoros(greek) mean "Lightbringer" or "Bringer of Dawn" and refer to the Venus as a deity bringing/making daylight. In the 4th century A.D., the name was attributed to Satan/Shaitan/the Devil. Look it up under "Lucifer" in Wikipedia, the naming process was a wee bit complicated.
The term "aphocryphal" is used to describe religious scripture not belonging to the official canon of a particular religion, esp. the jewish and christian one (like the dead sea scrolls or additional evangelii). The concept of a fallen angel named Satanael comes from apocryphal hebrew sources, but "Lucifer" and "fallen human king" analogies are used serveral times in the Old and New Testament, converging into a name and description of Satan in the Vulgata from the 5th century.--85.182.11.216 13:36, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
