[edit] Australia?
Why doesn't Anet like Australia, we never get any cool promotions :( -- Scourge 04:56, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Should be able to pick up the PC Gamer mag when it hits stores in Australia, that's the way I got my Grey Giant mini. Still it would be nice to get some Australia based promotions. --Indecision 05:22, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- We have it even worse in Brazil, NCSoft pretends we don't exist ;_; In that (completely unofficial) rumor that spread from the Inquirer, it was mentioned that one of the possible new playable races would be the Asura. I wonder what this would mean for GW if it were true... Erasculio 05:53, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- I wonder if they are a Humanoid race -- Scourge 06:12, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- I guess it's not a humanoid... I wonder what the hell it is lol -- Scourge 08:24, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- If it was blue it would Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Vladtheemailer 09:30, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- This is why you never let Dobby near Aliens. Seriously I find them most ugly to play with. Sith 05:58, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

- Come on, someone has to ride the short bus in the GW world. Looks like these guys are it. {{subst:71.97.20.102|}}

[edit] Asura = Nibblonians?
Diminutive but wise. Alien-like. Reclusive and probably have been around for a long time. Not to mention they probably fear that they're more cute than fierce. Could the Asura have been inspired by Futurama's Nibblonians? Just a thought that popped into my head when reading some of the names of Asura NPCs. Commander Hixx, hehe. --Heelz 03:19, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

- I doubt it, Warcraft was out about 5 years before Futurama started airing, but Bendah, an NPC they're adding to Kamadan before the Eye of the North preview, is probably named after Bender. -- Gordon Ecker 04:16, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- What does Warcraft have to do with the Asura? --Heelz 04:29, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Goblins, although there's a much older mythological tradition of diminunative artisans, with dwarves and gnomes as the best known examples. -- Gordon Ecker 05:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, I think the most important part is the whole "gratuitous cuteness" of Nibblonians and Asura. I wouldn't consider goblins or gnomes (well not as much) "cute". Also, depending on whether Asura are an ancient race in GW, they could be inspired by the Nibblonians, who existed 17 years before the universe! --Heelz 05:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- And they're both a lot more dangerous than they appear at first glance. Those Asura have some pretty sharp looking teeth. -- Gordon Ecker 05:27, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Lilo and stitch anyone? :-p Long ears, cute but deadly. -- Txzeenath 14:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Asuras are demons in Hindu mythology. And heck in GW they seem to be modelled a bit after them. Cute? Not really, look at their appearance, look at the concept art, look how they treat others. Powerful? Yeah, just like demons of Hindu mythology. But that's pretty much it. And in GW they try to picture Asuras as cute cuddly creatures. Weird, why not just get pandas. Servant of Kali 01:23, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- I can definitely see a Stitch resemblance: being the same size, having the long ears, and the same general face shape.

I see similarities between gw asura and the Ancient from Stargate SG1, I woulda add the note but someone already did ^^ --Ridz16 01:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Update the Asura Image?
The Asura image is currently tagged under Category:Image_update_needed I can change the image if needed, but see nothing wrong with the current image, if anyone feels it needs to be changed let me know Fall 08:55, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- I assume the image is of the miniature, maybe another asura would be better, I'd prefer an image without a human's legs or at least one where the human (parts) give a good impression of their size relative to humans. Etienne 17:28, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Asuran character in GW2
So are we going to see Golemancers by the new Minion Masters?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:203.173.232.249 (talk).
[edit] Voice Actor
anyone know specifically who does the voice acting for the Females? I recognize the voice and its bugging me. 75.153.242.9 01:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- I believe it was Mari Weiss.
Sounds Risky | 02:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Here are the IMDB pages for IMDB Amanda Phillipson April Stewart, Barbara Goodsone and Kari Wahlgren. The female Asura voice reminds me of Rem from Death Note, but Colleen Wheeler isn't in Guild Wars' voice cast. -- Gordon Ecker 02:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Names?
Is every asura's name 4 letters long? I noticed this, every asura's name is exactly 4 letters long, and many have a repeated letter, Vekk, Oola, Gadd... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 96.245.211.38 (talk • contribs) at 19:30, 13 August 2009 (UTC).
- Nope, although I suppose that's quite common; check Category:Asura. --
