[edit] Ascension double meaning, things remaining to test!

It seems people use the word 'ascension' interchangably for two very different things: 1. the actual Ascension, which allows you to 'see' spirits. 2. the implied abilities offered by ascending, like unlocking 2nd profession changes (is there any other, like wearing prestige armor?)

so questions remain, like:

• can a Weh No Su character see things like Vision Of Glint? Supposedly they may, as they can see spirits...
• can an Elonian who has completed Hunted! do the above? Realistically, they should not... or maybe they do, as they talk to Sunspear phantoms.
• any other?

Acension in Prophecies is required to:

• Progress normally through the storyline to Dragon's Lair
• To qualify for the quests to change secondary profession
  • by extension it's needed to gain the second +15 attribute quest (for Prophecies characters only) since you have to have done at least one of the secondary profession quests to unlock the quest.
• To access FOW and UW at the Temple of Ages

Ascension is not required to see the Vision of Glint, that simply requires kneeling at the shrine in Droknar's Forge. To get the quests from her, you simply have to have completed the Hell's Precipice mission, which can be done by a character that has not ascended.

Non Prophecies characters gain the same benefits (with the exception of access to Dragon's Lair) by:

• Completing the quest Hunted! in Elona.
• Completing the the Nahpui Quarter mission in Cantha.

The only thing that non Prophecies characters miss by completing Hunted! or Nahpui Quarter before beating the Doppleganger is the 50k xp ascension bonus appears to have been disproved in the testing comments below. -- Wyn 07:57, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ascending characters from various campaigns

I've tested with three characters:

• Dervish. Tried to chage secondary at Balthazar's temple without making any 'travel' quests. Only possible after making 'Hunted!'.
• Paragon. Wanted to try with Cantha, but forgot about it and made hunted before making Nahpui. I'll thank if anyone test this.
• Mesmer. Went to Tyria even before making Consulte Docks. Made Tyrian ascension. Did not got the 50,000 Experience, just 2000. Become able to change secondaries both by quests and Balthazar's temple.

Probably Tyrian Ascension is usable by anyone. I think we should test a Canthan trying to ascend there too. And tray all the ascensions with all the characters. Maybe there are some that can be cross-made. MithranArkanere 00:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I have tried to get ascended with a Ritualist with out going to Nahpui Quarter. Compleeted Hunted! and the Ritualist is still not ascended.

Ok. So far:

• Tyrian, Canthan and Elonian can ascend in Tyria. Elonian tested with a mesmer. Canthan tested with a monk. All can ascend in Tyria. (Probably due to the Secondary Profession quests, if you can make them, you can change professions, completely normal)
• Canthan can ascend in Cantha. I don't have data about ascending for other professions.
• ONLY Elonian ascend in Elona.

Tyrians can Ascend in Cantha. Tested by an Elementalist of User:TheStuff07

I've had to quickly ascend an elonian character that was ferried to cantha at level 3. It works in Nahpui Quarter for elonian characters before completing Hunted!. I'll add this to the article. --Boogy (Talk/Contributions) 01:43, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ascension and Lore

I don't know if this is the right spot for this as I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for. Other online sources as well as several ingame hints touch on the groups that came to the Crystal Desert for Ascension. While this article touches upon some of them, it doesn't have the detail that's apparently available. Turai Ossa in Amnoon Oasis mentions he's seen two other groups come to the desert for Ascension but, doesn't say who they were. There's indication that one of the groups were referred to as The Seekers (Seekers Passage being named after them) but, there doesnt seem to be any information about that group such as who they were and where they came from. Additionally, when this article mentions one of the groups as being Tyrians, is that a reference to the players character(s) or a previous group? Tahl 18:58, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, the Ascalon Chosen ones (Devona and company) get Elite skills after ascending. Maybe he was talking about them. MithTalk 20:21, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
