[edit] Maintaining

See an overview on this page.

  • Because this is a spell, skills like Arcane Echo can be used to reapply the enchantment before it ends. This keeps the spell from taking away most of your health and leaving you open.
  • This skill is maintainable by secondary elementalists with at least 15 in Shadow Arts, Glyph of Swiftness, Deadly Paradox and +20% of Enchanting weapon or Essence of Celerity. See the talk page for more details.
  • This skill is no longer sustainable without an Assassin primary (maximum duration is 21.7 seconds as compared to a possible 22.6 seconds recharge time), unless using special effects to buff Shadow Arts higher.
  • Secondary assassins can reach a downtime of roughly 9s with 12 Shadow Arts, +20% Enchantment duration, and Deadly Paradox. To compensate the health loss while Shadow Form recharges, Feigned Neutrality or Shadow Sanctuary can be useful.

[edit] Counters

  • Spells that don't target you directly, spells from machine sources (cannons, turrets, jets etc), signets, touch skills, traps, shouts and skills with the type "Skill" can still cause you damage or other effects.
  • Two preparations will still affect you even if the attacks do miss. Ignite Arrows which is found mainly in PvE on Charr Hunters (both Normal- and Hard Mode) and Choking Gas which can interrupt any spells you happen to cast.
  • The skill combination of Intimidating Aura and Chilling Victory can strip this enchantment as long as the HP condition is met.
  • In Fort Aspenwood, the turtles' attack will remove Shadow Form first, and then do the damage, effectively killing the target.

[edit] Notes

  • Commonly used for tanking and running.
  • The reduction of damage affects all damage -direct or indirect- caused by you.
  • Good synergy with Shroud of Distress if you lack the energy or skills to maintain it permanently.
