The Pygmy Hippopotamus was a charmable animal found in the boggy areas of Istan.

• It was featured during the Nightfall World Preview Event but it was removed prior to release because it was a model or skeleton that was useful for the Pygmy Hippopotamus only. To keep the number of charmable animals to a reasonable number and to keep the asset list manageable (this is relevant when you're in a map and someone brings a pet and you have to download the assets for the creature), the Pygmy Hippopotamus was unfortunately removed.
• Crocodiles were placed in the spawning locations used by the hippopotami.
• Other pets which have been removed or changed include the Panda, Crane, and the Fern Lizard.
• The Hippo does make a reappearance in Eye of the North in Arbor Bay. When exploring the areas around Ventari's Sanctuary in hard mode, several Aggressive Hippopotamus will spawn. They are not charmable.
