[edit] Notes
- This skill is great against enemies with high armor that deal AoE damage, like Wurms and Elementalist Bosses.
- Damage dealt to the hexed foe is calculated before damage reduction effects such as Protective Spirit.
- It triggers multiple times if the hexed foe hits multiple targets. For each creature that is hit, Pain Inverter produces a separate packet of damage. As each packet is limited separately by the maximum damage of 80, it is hugely effective against high-damage AoE spells, such as Searing Flames and Earthquake.
- It is also very effective against damage over time spells, such as Searing Heat and Fire Storm, as the effect described in the previous note takes effect every time the damage pulses.
- Does not work against damage dealt by passive skills like Empathy and Backfire. It does, however, work on Visions of Regret.
- Does work against damage by retaliation skills, like Whirling Defense, Retribution or Holy Wrath.
- Increasing the number of allies is also a good way to take advantage of this spell against AoE skills, like bringing minions, spirits, Asura Summons, Summoning Stones and/or animal companions.
- This skill's base damage is capped at 80, not its net damage. As such, skills like Intensity, "By Ural's Hammer!" and Frenzy can cause the damage to exceed 80.
