Joe is a Devourer raised by Old Mac from a Devourer Egg. This egg was given to Old Mac by the hero in the quest titled The Rogue's Replacement as a replacement for his old pet, the Rogue Bull. His previous pet was killed in the quest titled A Mesmer's Burden.
