[edit] Overview
- Vabbi
- The eastern side of the Mirror of Lyss and Resplendent Makuun are a great place to farm Lightbringer points early on.
- The Hidden City of Ahdashim can also be farmed for a greater amount of Lightbringer points.
- The Desolation
- In the The Sulfurous Wastes, with the A Show of Force and Requiem for a Brain quests active, you may farm Margonites at the south-west of the map. Many groups gather at the Remains of Sahlahja for this purpose.
- An alternative Margonite farming location is The Shattered Ravines, with the quest Getting Even active.
- Realm of Torment
- In the Domain of Fear, with the Last Patrol quest active, you will gain allies that make farming easier.
- In the Domain of Secrets from the Gate of Secrets in hard mode. Clearing the Margonite mobs can yield over 1000 points.
[edit] Vabbi
[edit] The Mirror of Lyss
- Start: Dzagonur Bastion
- End: Near Honur Hill
[edit] Walkthrough
This run can be completed in less than 10 minutes, and is recommended for players with lightbringer ranks 2 or less. There are exactly 9 groups of 4 elementals each, netting 72 LB points. Enter the Mirror of Lyss from the Dzagonur Bastion outpost, and obtain the Elemental Hunt bounty right outside. Follow this order: 1. Hit the elemental just south of the shrine, 2,3. head west and kill the 2 mobs, 4. head south onto a cliff and hit that mob, 5. head east and hit that mob, 6,7. head south, hit the next 2 mobs, and try to avoid the plant mob if possible, 8. continue south to the T-junction and hit that mob, 9. head south-east and hit the final mob.
- Note: The quest The Search for Survivors affects the elemental mob spawns, so abandon or complete that quest before the run.
[edit] The Hidden City of Ahdashim
This is a good area to farm Lightbringer points, because of the multiple elementals. Bring a similar skill set as you did for the mission (AoE skills are recommended) and keep an eye on your heroes over-aggroing the pop-ups. The elementals are in the decorated areas (such as the very first one and the one in back), with a few Roaring Ethers scattered about the caverns.[edit] The Desolation
[edit] The Sulfurous Wastes
- Start: Remains of Sahlahja
- End: Temple of the Monoliths
- Requirements:
[edit] Walkthrough
This is a simple run, that can be completed with a 5-8 person team. One person in your party needs to have the quests A Show of Force and Requiem for a Brain active in their log, and not completed. The 'A Show of Force' quest should be at the point to where you have the Rune of DOOM in your inventory.
The 5-person team will yield each individual more treasure, but the farming takes slightly longer. The 8-person team will yield each individual less treasure, but the time to complete the run is improved. You will frequently find two or more locked chests along the route, so treasure-seekers may want to bring some lockpicks.
Starting at the Remains of Sahlahja, collect the Sunspear bounty from the Ghostly Scout, and proceed SW following the map on this page. You will encounter Desert Wurms during your run, but it is customary to just ignore them and move on, for faster completion. These wurms can be particularly annoying by removing large chunks of health and defeating Joko's minions. After you have received the Lightbringer Bounty from the Ghostly Priest, make your way around the bend, and continue to follow the map.
Once you have reached the item 'Ancient Tome of Knowledge', someone has to pick it up, then drop it immediately to activate more Margonites (Margonites spawn at the same time as you pick up the tome, but why should you bother carrying it?). Back track just around the north bend of your position to find two groups there. After defeating them, proceed back to the Monoliths hall, and start having fun in there.
Once there are no more monoliths in the area*, hit the first RIGHT Side Abaddon Shrine by the entrance facing into the hall. More Monoliths will spawn along with 3 bosses to increase your total points.
- After the bosses are killed resign or just leave the party.
NOTE: You can do this faster if the party member with the rune of DOOM just rushes in the temple, activate the shrine and run out again. The others just wait outside the temple. This way you will pull the bosses out of the temple and kill them faster. This will be done 3-5 minutes faster then first clearing out the whole temple.
[edit] Alternative
One alternative, faster way to do it, earning slightly less points, is to go from the Ghostly Scout directly to the south areas, ignoring the Margonites on the north. If using heroes and/or henchmen, you may flag them to the south so they kill the three Djinn there while you get the bounty. Then follow the directions above and kill all the Margonites in the southern area - between those already there and the ones who spawn after taking the Tome, you will kill exactly 25 Margonites, the amount needed for earning the higher possible number of points when killing a boss. Then proceed to the hall filled with Monoliths, and ignore them - killing the monoliths takes a long time, and they do not give you any points. Instead, hit the first Abaddon Shrine to the right side and make the bosses spawn - kill the three of them, while ignoring the monoliths, and you will have earned 600 Lightbringer points (as opposed to 666 points using the strategy above). The monoliths will likely kill a couple party members, but in a party with 8 characters (even if it's only one human being and seven heroes/henchmen) they will be resurrected soon enough. Doing it this way will make a 10 minute completion possible.
[edit] * Note for people wanting maximum point efficiency
Since there is no bounty for killing the Monoliths, it is not necessary to clear out the whole Temple of the Monoliths. The front group can be cleared in order to summon the three Margonite bosses without aggroing the back group. Once the bosses are dead, the team can resign.
Also, as Sunspear ranks are faster and easier to max than Lightbringer ranks, it is often worthwhile to skip the Sunspear bounties and associated mobs. For example, the three groups of undead in the northern portion the map can be skipped: the first two can be run through, and the third can be avoided. This will shave off considerable amount of time. You still need to kill the last group of undead where the Margonites will spawn, so some progress is still made on the Sunspear rank.
[edit] Further Points
After killing the three bosses you can still get a few more points, but not much. All Abaddon Shrines on the right side spawn a few Margonites with Monoliths and on the left side there are two shrines on the back of the line which also spawn Margonites. The rest only spawn Monoliths.
[edit] The Shattered Ravines
This is an alternative Margonite farming location to the Sulfurous Wastes, for those who don't have the quests A Show of Force and Requiem for a Brain active. It is slower than farming in the Realm of Torment, but has the advantage that it can be done nearly entirely in junundu.
Start from the Lair of the Forgotten and take the quest Getting Even from Kane right outside the entrance. Make for the wurm spoor nearby, killing the few giants and pop-up insects along the way. Once in wurm form, head south to the entrance to Joko's Domain to obtain the Margonite bounty. Proceed in a roughly clockwise direction around the map, finishing with the boss Saushali the Frustrating in the northeast. This will obtain about 600-700 points in 30-35 minutes.
This run can be combined with Sunspear point farming by obtaining the giant hunt at the beginning, and the undead hunt from the shrine in the west-central portion of the map. There are two bosses to be killed: Uhiwi the Smoky and Koahm the Weary. Both of these can be encountered en route to Saushali.
[edit] Realm of Torment
[edit] Domain Of Anguish
A place to farm Lightbringer points is in the Domain of Anguish. With the proper group only, a 3 man Foundry run in Hard Mode. A completed run can yield over 2000 points. The run consists of a 600 Monk, a Famine Ranger, and a Smite Monk. Each run takes 30-40 minutes if done well.
Farming this Area with H/H is pointless and takes too long to make it worth while.
[edit] Nightfallen Jahai
- Start: Gate of Pain
- End: Boss Oath of Profanity
- Done with heroes and henchmen
- You should bring a Minion Master, a Mesmer for interrupts, the rest of the party should be for damage dealing and health booster.
- A hero with Spoil Victor and Arcane Echo is also a good choice
- Only Hard Mode
[edit] Walkthrough
This run can be completed in less than 30 minutes, and is recommended for players with Lightbringer rank higher than 5. Enter Nightfallen Jahai from Gate of Pain, kill the first Margonites, get the Margonite Hunt blessing and continue until you reach the Resurrection Shrine, point 3 on map, and get the Monster Hunt, just up there's point 4 where you will find the first boss, Shepherd of Dementia, continue along the path and you will come across the 2nd boss Onslaught of Terror, "vanquish" everything in your path and continue north where you will see a fortress the 3rd boss Chimor the Lightblooded (point 7), turn back South-East and continue down the path (remember to "vanquish" everything), at the end (point 8) you will fight the last boss Oath of Profanity. A complete run can reach as high as 1200 lightbringer points in just ~25 minutes!
