Flame Temple Corridor

The Flame Temple Corridor is a region in the north of Charr-held Ascalon. It is dominated by a seared and desolate set of gullies winding between surrounding hills. In the center section of the territory lies a large open temple complex. Given the obvious damage suffered throughout this area in the Searing, it is likely that the Charr occupied the temple ruins and converted it to their own purposes, and did not build it themselves.

The Flame Temple Corridor is reached by wading through a tar river in the northeast part of the adjacent Diessa Lowlands. The closest Outpost to this area is Grendich Courthouse, and it is also convenient to the Nolani Academy. There is a dead-end exit in the northeast, which leads to the tar lakes of Dragon's Gullet. While the central spire of the temple here is an impressive structure, the ruins further north in Dragon's Gullet are far more scenic and interesting.

The Charr have infested this area, leaving few other hostiles to deal with. Occasional Hydra will be found prowling along the surrounding paths.

[edit] Notes

  • Interactive objects
  • A small squad of four Ascalon soldiers will join adventurers at the lower entrance to the Flame Temple Corridor. They are well-intentioned and eager, but they attack without restraint and ignore the call of good tactics. As a result, they generally do not survive long. They will follow a route similar to the one adventurers take in the quest Althea's Ashes, eventually arriving to the Charr Altar at the end of the Ashes quest. They will patrol aimlessly at this point if they arrive in one piece.
  • Mid-level groups questing from Piken Square should find isolated Charr of various types to be little challenge. However, there are many hostile Charr scattered along the paths and temple grounds here, and players who rush in blindly are unlikely to rush out without death penalties. For groups which move in with restraint, the Charr can be picked off for the most part in groups of two or three, with little lasting damage to the party.
  • Full exploration of this area contributes approximately 0.5% to the Tyrian Cartographer title.
  • To vanquish the area, one must defeat approximately 99-109 enemies.
