[edit] ReportedUsing a Disco Ball in Menagerie Outpost shows no fireworks.

Just tested this twice in the Zaishen Menagerie Outpost. Using a Disco ball results in the "Player XXX has started a fireworks display." message. But no fireworks appear, nor are any firework sounds heard. Anon-e-mouse 23:41, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the report. -Kim Chase 23:43, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported Northern Portal from The Black Curtain to Cursed Lands areas has a bugged part.

I was exploring Kryta today when I turned on auto run to walk through the northern portal to the Cursed Lands, and I looked away for a split second, and looked back to find myself on what would be the Cursed Lands side of the portal, only my character was still registered as being in the Black Curtain area. I went back to the portal (which being on the opposite side of it teleported me to the Cursed Lands where I returned to check the spot again. The bugged section is at the northern end of the portal, and this bug can be reproduced by running against the wall at the portal. Lordmccoy 18:06, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

I've entered this into the database, good catch! Leah Rivera 21:05, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Target: Foe - Next

When assigning the Shift key to "Target: Foe - Next", pressing shift begins targeting players starting from farthest player on the compass to closest, while using Tab for the same command selects targets from nearest to farthest.

That's because Shift, as far as I know, innately reverses the ordering. For example, if you use Shift + Tab in default settings (with Tab set to Target: Foe - Next) you'd get the farthest opponent. ··· Danny Pew Pew 19:45, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
The shift key, as well as any other key with innate settings, can be tricky to work with. However, I've entered this into the database as an inquiry just in case. Thanks for the post. Leah Rivera 21:32, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Inquiry answered! As suspected, the shift key is hooked up to reverse selection order when used with the Target Next function. By binding Target Next to the Shift key, you're changing it to use both those functions at once. The only way to correct this issue would be to remove the current Shift key function which probably wouldn't be desirable for everyone. Hopefully that answers your questions on this issue, if not, I'd be happy to elaborate. Thanks for the post! Leah Rivera 22:09, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Wouldn't another potential fix be to allow the player to customize which key reverses ordering? Just a thought. 74.50.104.2 22:27, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No iTunes Crashes when dialogue sounds are made

Since the most recent update, iTunes has crashed every time GW.exe invokes a dialogue sound, e.g. when one a character speaks to an EotN NPC. Program focus is interrupted by windows to show the error report widget. Although the current song continues to play, iTunes will not advance to the next song. GW itself plays fine; the sounds run as expected. Previously, iTunes played just fine in the background.

I haven't made any recent changes to my sound system (software or hardware). I will add further troubleshooting information as I collect it. Please let me know if it would be useful to save the debug info to a log and send it to support via a ticket. Thank you.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:59, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

after 10 iTunes crashes triggered as described above, I had my first crash without a dialogue sound effect from GW. Pending further troubleshooting, I'm eliminating GW as a probable cause.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:26, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Besides being nothing ArenaNet can fix, its itunes 9 not 10. --Dominator Matrix 07:01, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported Guild NPCs in International Districts

I noticed that there are no Guild emblemer and guild registrar in Lion's Arch International Districts. On wiki there was a note about that saying that is becasue of International district, but this is happen only in tyrian towns(Lion's Arch, Ascalon City (post-searing) and Ascalon City (pre-searing)). In Cantha (Kaineng center and Shing Jea Monastery) those NPCs aren't missing in international districts, same for Elona (Kamadan) the NPCs are in every district. So I think the NPCs should either be removed from International Districts of canthan and elonian towns or added in International Districts of tyrian towns. --Sharkinu*Ding!* 19:46, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Good eye, this was the intended functionality back when the territories were separated but I've entered this into the database to see what the designers say. Leah Rivera 22:08, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Lost heroes

I logged in today and found out that I have just lost some of my heroes that I have recruited before. It is weird. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 204.112.132.174 (talk).

I need more information to address this problem. For starters, do you remember which heroes were effected and did you get the "Hero Unlocked" pop-up for them? Leah Rivera 21:39, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Earth Tormentor - demons dealing not-deamons dmg.

Earth Tormentor is classified as Demon, but shield +10 armor vs Demons (Aegis of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh) doesn't reduce damage dealed by him descended from earth skills f.e. Staggering Force. For example when I use shield +10 armor vs earth, damage received is lesser then on same toon wearing same armor but with sheld vs Demons.

I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. Here's what I tried: Aegis of the Condemned alone for a baseline (+16 armor to be consistant with the Aegis of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh) resulted in 96 damage from Staggering Force. Aegis of the Condemned + Hydromancer Insignia for the +10 vs. Elemental damage resulted in 81 damage from Staggering Force. Aegis of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh alone also resulted in 81 damage from Staggering Force.
Should that have hit the issue? If not, please post more information and I'll look back into it. Thanks! Leah Rivera 23:24, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported Map bug when party leader changes to HM.

I had the map zoomed out when my party leader changed our group to Hard Mode, and all of the area vanquishing symbols popped up (while still zoomed out). Zooming in and then back out again fixed it. We were in Sifhalla German district 1, if I remember correctly. I had him repeat the issue multiple times in that district, but haven't checked elsewhere. It was actually useful for pinpointing the areas we have left to vanquish, but a bug nonetheless. --Admos 15:29, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Neat bug! I've added this to the database, thanks for the help. Leah Rivera 23:55, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Buffer communications while loading

When zoning, you sometimes miss chatter on the guild/alliance line etc. I don't know the core of this problem, but I assume it has to do with zoning, as that is the only time I've encountered this problem. Could you look into it and hopefully fix it so that when you finish zoning, you get all the messages, even those occuring while you zoned?

Because if you zone a lot, you miss a lot of guild/alliance chatter.
- Kherec 10:29, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

This only occurs prior to connecting to the instance server, likely because Guild Wars disconnects you from the current server in order to connect you to the instance server. If you have a sufficiently fast internet connection, you won't miss much or any chatter. (If your computer is slow but your connection is fast, messages that are sent while you're still loading the area will be displayed.) ··· Danny Pew Pew 18:44, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Your reasoning is quite flawed, as I have a good computer as well as a good link. That doesn't stop bottlenecks closer to Anet's servers however. The problem is, whispers seem unaffected, so it's stands to reason that it can be fixed.
- Kherec 20:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Not sure it's a "bug" but more due to a way of working we don't have all keys to understand about how it is working in depth. From the few things i saw on Windows and network connections on my computer, several connections are used in order to play GW ; some are related to the data exchange for the game/actions with the environnement, some related to the friends list servers, some for the chats and guild/alliance links/belongings. Maybe some connections are permanent while some aren't, closed and reopened like said above, but it's mainly things i partially saw while having a tool like a netstat opened while playing GW. I'd say...Don't call it a "bug" yet, maybe turn in into a tech question for Anet 1st before saying bug ! :P (not sure who could take care of the answer of that question though... Linsey ?) Davor Belegnaur 21:48, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
If messages are lost, I don't really care how and why ... it's a bug :) - Kherec 14:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Nah, things aren't white or black, there's an infinity of greys in the nature ! :D Bug is a very specific term to design things not working as they should be. If we don't know how it works or have clues, you need to qualify the odd way of working and confirm it is a bug. But yeah, in common language, people tend to use bug very often, unfortunately. Wait and see i say ! ;) Davor Belegnaur 14:31, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Wow, this one took some research! Unfortunately, this is a technical limitation for GW1 so there are no plans to address this in the near future. Thanks very much for the post though. Leah Rivera 20:14, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Issue with Shadow Form and the Stygian Veil Environment Effect

I've noticed an issue with the Stygian Veil's environment effect and its reaction to Shadow Form. The heading for Demonic Miasma tates that it deals damage to blocked or dodged attacks. Shadow Form does neither - causing attacks to miss instead - but the effect is dealing the damage. This affects Hard Mode only (due to the environment effect not being in Normal mode).

My reading is that, as SF doesn't cause blocking or dodging, Demonic Miasma shouldn't trigger.

Thank you for the report, but I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. Missing due to Shadow Form wasn't triggering Demonic Miasma. If I dodged or blocked it would apply correctly while in Shadow Form though, could that be what you were seeing? Leah Rivera 00:34, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Nope, I noticed it only using shadow form to farm the City of Torc'Qua and it occurred when I was trying to pull the large mob containing the bosses out into the city from the Veil.

Could it have been due to "obstructed" occurring? 74.50.104.2 22:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Could you have inadvertently dodged some of the attacks while pulling? They're pretty easy to dodge if you're on the move. That would cause the environmental effect to damage you even with Shadow Form up. Leah Rivera 18:31, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't think so, not in the numbers I was seeing. I didn't have a speed boost on so I should have taken the majority of the hits as usual.

[edit] No Visiting Guild Hall as guest resulting in an error 7 (the former Misc. bug page being protected)

@Leah : Original report : there To sum and how i repro it :

  • Someone in guild A sends you a guest invite
  • You travel to the Guild Hall of the guild A with the button Visit Guild Hall in the Guild window
  • Once you are inside the hall, just hit the Visit Guild Hall again (it has to be the hall of the guild you are currently in, so the GH of the guild A)

You have the error 7, back to the character choice screen.

Note : I must say i don't belong to a guild for now but i doubt it is related to only that case, i had this before if i recall correctly. Hope it helps you Leah, i can provide pics if you need. Davor Belegnaur 21:55, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the clarification, but following the steps above I'm still not able to reproduce this on my machine. Here's what I did:
  • Loaded characters in two different guilds: Set both guild halls to Burning Isle.
  • Gave Character A a guest invite to Character B's guild.
  • With Character A, used the Visit Guild Hall button to enter Character B's hall.
  • While still in Character B's hall, selected that same Guest Invite and hit Visit Guild Hall again with Character A.
With those steps I would get the appropriate error message and remain in the hall. I also tried different permutations between 3 different accounts and a few more guild halls with no luck. Should that have encountered the bug? If so, it could be either machine specific or Guild Hall specific. Do you remember which hall you had the issue with, or have you tried this on another person's machine? Thanks again! Leah Rivera 21:31, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Hayda

In the guild hall, I have noticed that from the neck down, any skin that should be showing, isn't. It looks like it's see through, like you can see the background, where the skin should be. I have not noticed this on any other character. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 21:57, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Closing this one down, no more Heroes in GvG. Leah Rivera 21:15, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Can't reproduce it with any of her armor sets, either. Must have been a temporary bug. --Golgarit Raven 21:58, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Arachni's Chest

Not that big of a deal, but it is possible to get caught behind the chest after it spawns, between the eggs and geographical inconveniences eh, and B) was actually funny to watch a guy have choice words behind the chest for a minute before we told him about /stuck. LunchboxOctober 08:15, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported/aion and /zrank

It seem these emotes use the same "time counter" and therefore cannot be used one after another. If you use /aion you have to wait 30 seconds before you can use /zrank and vice versa. --Metatail 19:56, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm inquiring about this. Thanks. -Kim Chase 23:55, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Possible attribute point bug

A User reported a bug on our Fansite. He has all attribute points allthough he just created the char. He didn't post a tutorial for it, so it could be a hoax. Screenshot --Maria Murtor 10:01, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported Crash bug when hitting "Conversion key" in Japanese 109keyboard

GuildWars Client is Crashed when using "Conversion key(in Japanese, 変換キー)", in Japanese 109 keyborad. Japanese users mainly use this type of keyboard, and not only me but at least 3 people face this crush. This occurs highly, almost 100%, so I strongly hope to be correcting this bug.

Other Environment: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, Japanese Microsoft IME(10.0.6001.0)

Thank you for your report. The issue has been tracked down and should be fixed, could you please try again to verify? Leah Rivera 19:33, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Frozen Foes Issue

I'm sure this has been reported before as its a really old bug. The bug is that foes will randomly not react to you or anyone else's hits or actions for a period of time or at all. I've seen this bug everywhere but it seems to be a issue in the game engine where the foes fail to pickup on the user's entrance/actions and as a result do not respond to them. A possible fix would to force the foes model to rescan if it detects no interaction. --Dominator Matrix 07:06, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No falling animation for female warrior statue

In The Arid Sea the giant female warrior statue has no falling animation. As we approch the statue the moment before it is there then the moment after it is no more there as described in the Guid Wars Wiki article about this statue.

[edit] Guild chat

I would like to see the "No one hears you" notice in guild chat if no one in your guild is online. I have seen the message in all chat and team chat, and I think it would be useful in guild and alliance chats as well. I am in a relatively small guild (30 or less) and I don't think to open the guild panel before I post a message. I would just like a notice that no one else is on in my guild. Thanks. jhgaylor 17:50, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

More properly phrased: the "No one hears you" message fails to display in guild/alliance chat when there is no one else "listening." ··· Danny Pew Pew 17:58, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Not a bug as it was not designed to work that way. If you wish to see it changed, please go to Feedback:Main and follow the steps to create a game suggestion space and make a suggestion. This does not belong on the bugs page. -- Wyn talk 20:00, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Are you sure? I'm just curious as to whether or not this has ever been confirmed. ··· Danny Pew Pew 20:03, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Tar Effect in Ascalon Areas and Poisonous Water in Krytan Areas

I've been working on Legendary Guardian and Legendary Vanquisher lately, and have started working on the Prophecies campaign. One thing I've noticed is that the Tar effect and the effect of getting poison from the water in Kryta are rather inconsistent. As I write this I'm sitting in a Tar Pit in Regent Valley in Post and have yet to get the 'Tar' effect that slows me down, yet if I go to Great Northern Wall, or Ruins of Surmia I DO gain the effect. The same is true for Kryta and it's poisonous water, I sat for ten minutes in the water in The Black Curtain without becoming poisoned, yet if I go to Divinity Coast or Sanctum Cay I gain the poison only after a few moments of standing the water. I know that this is probably a bad example since I'm comparing missions to explorable areas, but it still seems inconsistent to walk in water/tar that looks exactly the same and not gain the same effect. I'll continue to search for more places where the poison and Tar effects are not applying properly, but I wanted to give you guys a heads up. Art 01:40, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Bugs with Light of Deldrimor/Hidden Treasure

Every dungeon I've ever been to (all of them, multiple times) has problems with the Light of Deldrimor and the Hidden Treasure or Dwarven Ghosts. Sometimes, I will cast LoD and I will receive the message that I have uncovered hidden treasures, but nothing will appear. Other times, after casting LoD and getting the ping on my compass, I will approach the area that contains the secret and there will be no glowing blue dot on the ground or anywhere. I will then give it enough time to reset, recast the skill, and now, nothing appears. The place that pinged previously doesn't ping again, the secret is just gone. Is this a known issue and is it being worked on? --MushaTalk 00:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

One of the most common places this bug appears is on the first hidden treasure on the third level of Cathedral of Flames. This one has bugged out on me on numerous occasions.

[edit] Henchies "leaving the party" upon entering another town

I understand that if your party size allowed for a certain town or outpost is limited, then the henchmen will leave, down to any heros the player may have with that character at that particular time. This is not one of those cases.

This seems to happen most of the time with the specific henchman Little Thom while on the Prophecies map areas where there are up to 6 party members allowed.

When map travelling from an explorable area to a town or outpost location, the message (and the party formation window reflects this) is that Little Thom has left the party. It also happens when entering through the portal from an explorable area. This still happens even on the towns where he is an available henchie. It doesn't seem to happen when map traveling from town to town.

IIRC, this is due to the henchmen in question either (1) not being available in that outpost or (2) having a different skill bar in that outpost. Either way, the henchmen is removed from your party as that specific henchmen (name and skill bar) is not allowed in that outpost. For example, in prophecies many henchmen with leave you due to their skill bar changing as their level increases, while in factions many henchmen are available in some outposts, but not in others. (Interesting side note, as Mhenlo is in the Consolate Docks outpost, he will not leave your party when traveling there, even though he's not actually a selectable Henchmen.) 67.43.242.54 13:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Or at least he used to.... I just tried the Mhenlo bug and it no longer works. Apparently they must have fixed it at some point. 67.43.242.54 13:45, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Skill trainer Steig doesn't offer Signets of Capture

Steig, who is in Camp Rankor, does not offer Signets of Capture, even though he's far enough in the game that he should. --Macros 17:42, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Non-poisonous poisonous sands in Crystal Outlook.

Was exploring in Crystal Outlook, on the yellow poisonous sands, when I accidentally got out of my wurm. To my surprise, I didn't immediately die, nor did my heroes die when they also go out of their wurms. Was able to wander around for a while before I finally hit one spot where I finally did drop dead. 99.241.85.12 02:52, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] salvaging network crash

while salvaging a healing ankh +3 energy in the catacombs, a network error pops up and asks if you want to reconnect.

Sounds like the known salvage bug. ··· Danny Pew Pew 20:32, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
There is still salvage errors. Get 20 or more feathered crests(for example), put your salvage kit next to the feathered crests, try to salvage them very fast, the game will disconnect, even if they are not put next to each other. The game will disconnect when you salvage things very fast.--Wealedout 14:07, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Error Codes in Alliance Battles

Currently many people are experiencing messages such as "Reattempting to establish connection to server (Code = 13/15)" They are unable to enter Alliance Battles.

This was/has been occuring in RA and HB regularly, as well. ··· Danny Pew Pew 20:32, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Answer: RR day. It causes server strain (regardless of what Anet officials say about "latency" issues :/) and causes all kinds of errors. Don't worry. It'll never happen again :D Karate File:User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 20:37, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

The update of 18th june 2009 changed the spirit level of the communing binding ritual named "Pain", the item spell "Anguished Was Lingwah" that created a spirit of pain once the item was dropped, has not yet received any update to become equal to it´s previous use. The spirit level is far inferior, the skill cost and casting time is superior to the binding ritual "Pain".

[edit] Yes Unable to use certain unlocked skills at Codex Arena

As of today Oct.22, i am unable to use skills from the Swordsmanship, Hammer Mastery and Axe Mastery lines that i have no access to (unlocked - don't have the expansions). I have no problem using skills from other trees or classes, regardless of what expansion they belong to, though. This includes skills from the Strength and Tactics lines.

I can put the skills without problems on the skill bar, but at the time of trying them on the arena, clicking on them (or pressing the hotkey) does nothing. No error message is displayed, nor they appear as "locked" on the bar.

Specifically, the skills i loaded up but weren't useable were: Magehunter's Smash, Overbearing Smash, Yeti Smash, Standing Slash, Sun and Moon Slash and Decapitate.--Fighterdoken 02:34, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

This should be fixed in the current build, thanks for the report. Leah Rivera 23:52, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, it's fixed, thanks.--Fighterdoken 00:22, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Yes Droknar's Forge - Map Travel after arriving there during Halloween

One of my characters travelled to Droknar's Forge and then mapped away after the Outpost had been decked out for Halloween. Trying to return to Droknar's Forge by way of Map Travel is impossible because the Outpost Badge is missing from the Overview Map for Map Travel. The character can travel overland from Fort Ranknor, from The Ice Caves (Outpost) (where the Character is about to commence the Ice Cave (Mission)) or from Port Sledge .... Map Travel is available to those locations from Droknar's Forge once the character has fought her way back there.

Other character on the account that already had been to Droknar's Forge before Halloween festivities commenced have retained Map Travel functionality. -- Bearz 15:56, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Same problem with entering Droknar's Forge via Dragon's Lair mission. Walked out, walked back in to Droknar's Forge, mapped in Ice Caves of Sorrow and then again tried to map in Drok's -- nothing shows up on map and cannot map travel back there after leaving. Same problem with Tomb of Primeval Kings, which also entered after Halloween festivities had begun -- doesn't appear on map. Camp Ranknor and other cities map in, but not Drok's. Sjhshh 00:17, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
I've talked with quite a few of the Drok's runners at Beacon's. Apparently anyone who enters Droknar's Forge for the first time after the Halloween update cannot access Drok's via map travel. It does not matter whether you first enter Drok's via land or via Dragon's Lair. Also, the statement above implies the bug may also apply to any characters that were in Droknar's Forge when the decorations took affect. Hopefully, this will be resolved quickly as the Halloween festival will draw even more characters to Drok's than usual. 67.43.242.54 13:33, 25 October 2009 (UTC0

This problem now seems to be fixed. I travelled to Droknar's Forge the hard way and, after entering the Town, the Map Travel badge has now appeared. Thank you to whoever fixed this! -- Bearz 18:28, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Agree, seemed it also had effect on the other Festival towns as well and was correctedin a mini update MystiLefemEle 06:42, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Faction Cap Becomes Zero After Reconnecting

Don't know if it occuring in only Costume Brawl or also other place, I disconnected and reconnected today, while I pressed H, The max number of my 3 factions turned into 0. I asked my teamate and she/he said it happens after reconnecting. But I still getting factions, and it became normal after entering another battle. --TeaCat._. 18:03, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported Devona skill bug

Devona is using her old build (with "Charge!" et cetera) while Raisu Palace and Imperial Sanctum.--Maria Murtor 13:32, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

This should be fixed as of the October 29th build. Thanks! Leah Rivera 01:51, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reported AB rits using PvE skills

Ritualists NPCs on AB map Saltspray Beach are using PvE version of their spirit summonning skills. I don't know if this happens in all AB maps, or if it just an issue of that map. --ReiNaruto 17:25, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

A fix for this went through in the October 29th build. I think we hit all the problem skills, if not, please keep us updated. Thanks for the report. Leah Rivera 01:53, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] No Present Bug

When using certain presents, they don't seem to function as intended. If you have a full inventory, some presents will not open when clicked, while others will, provided that the item randomly generated will actually fit in your inventory due to stacking. That is, if I have less than a stack of say, sparklers, in my inv and its otherwise full, I can keep clicking a present which CAN reward sparklers until they are placed in my inventory. I've observed this with gifts from Nick in both pre and post, so I'm not sure how wide spread the issue is... but for example if it worked on coffers and armbraces we could have a big problem. Either way, it allows people to get certain items from presents disproportionally, and can virtually insure I get all the red rock candy I need. Thought you'd like to know. -- Captain Bulldozer Don't TELL me that you're right... prove it. 22:25, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the post. This would definitely be something we'd want to address but I wasn't able to reproduce the issue. I only get the, "Inventory is full," message when I try the following steps: Get an item that stacks from a gift, fill your inventory, keep clicking gifts. Should that have reproduced the issue? Leah Rivera 18:34, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Did you try the gifts from Nicholas, since he stated: "I've observed this with gifts from Nick in both pre and post". --Silver Edge 03:26, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I have tried it myself with Coffers and it didn't work. I didn't try with the ToT bags recently... but I did try it a few days ago on the gifts in pre-searing... it still worked there. Haven't tried any other presents more recently than that though. -- Captain Bulldozer 21:07, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
This can be a little tricky to reproduce. Try this: have an un-finished stack of all but one or two possible drops from a gift, and then start clicking gifts. It will keep working and filling up the stacks until it "chooses" a drop that is not in your inventory, then it will say that you're full. Each subsequent "click" does not reset the roll of the item it wants to produce (in my experience), so if from the start you got a full inventory warning, you won't get any further. I don't know if re-logging resets the roll choice of a partifular gift, and what resets it if anything, or if it's decided on the gift's spawn, etc. I think I observed this "phenomenon" with the prizes at the last Dragon Festival. [edit] Instant death on resurrection

I suffered from a very odd phenomenon a moment ago while trying to reach The Temple of the Ages with only 3 heroes in my party. I got killed by mobs on my way, several times, and was resurrected. At some point Olias exploited my corpse to create a minion. After this, even though the mobs were dead and none in my party suffered from a condition, every time Dunkoro resurrected me I would have 0 HP and die instantly. I let him resurrect me a few times until I was sure it was not a condition or anything like that. MY DP remained at 59%. I killed the heroes by disabling their healing skills and ordering them to stand in poisonous water, after which I got resurrected at a shrine among the others. The problem still remained; I only had 1 HP now (I have a screenshot of this). I tried getting it higher by eating a Candy Apple (supposed to grant +100 HP) but my new HP was a mere 78 or so. I managed to reach the next outpost and after entering it my HP returned to normal. 86.50.111.158 22:37, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Noseless

Umm, that has been known for a long time.--Unendingfear 22:50, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
If your hero's res doesn't restore above 50% health, you die right away with a max hp of 1. I believe this was the issue? In that case it's not a bug. - J.P.Talk 23:20, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
As JP says. To see a more detailed explanation, see the DP notes on Guild Wiki (I am sure there's an example of this on this wiki, but I found that link more easily). BTW: the suicidal heroes + candy apple was a clever work-around; gj.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:00, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Henchmen in Guild Halls

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be for fun, yet two things about one of the new henchies bother me. First "Zen Siert" spams emotes in Imperial (/pickme) and Meditation (/exited and /laugh) all the time (maybe in other halls, too - didn't check). Second is its name, yet this'll be highly discusseable. I understand you promised the winners that their names are being used, yet the other henchmen sure got interesting or at least "real sounding" names, while this one just has the german word for "censored" with an added space in the middle for a name. Kind of breaks the spirit of namegiving ingame, IMHO. Maybe adding the name of the skillbar creator in the dialogue text (xy trained me, or something) would be the better option? I think it'll generally be a good idea to make all of them use emotes a bit less, maybe on the frequency the other NPCs already use. They don't do that in towns all of the time, so why should they do in here.

--Golgarit Raven 05:16, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Henchmen names are already ridiculously long with the [Xxxxxxx Henchman] tag after their names, adding even more text would just be obnoxious. ··· Danny Pew Pew 22:53, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Presearing Gwen: not able to receive the Tapestry Shred or start Gwen's Flute if you've joined party of someone who has

I realize that this is a widely known bug, but I had an idea recently on how to prevent it. Like how the leader of a party has a different color blue name in outposts than other people, what if there were a distinguishing feature to the name of players who have already given Gwen her flute, cape, flowers, etc. so that people who join their parties can do so on their own discretion. I for one never thought to ask, "did you already help Gwen" and wish I didn't have to. I think this would be a good way to prevent "tainting" characters. This bug is directly mentioned at both Wikia's site http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gwen_(Pre-searing) and http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_meeting_Gwen#Getting_the_Tapestry_Shred, and is further referenced (in a rather confusing way) at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gwen_(Prophecies).

Ummm... instead of this, wouldn't it be better to just fix the current bug? Besides, most new players in Pre-searing aren't going to know anything about a tapestry shard anyway. They'd have to check wiki, at which point they'd find out about the bug. I don't see the point of your suggestion really... -- Captain Bulldozer If I have not seen as far as other men, its because Giants were standing on my shoulders. 00:05, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Dungeon Endbosses and the Bounty

On another note I found that the dwarven bonus of Boss Bounty seems to occur a lot at the end of a dungeon when the kill counter pretty much hits the roof, yet when the endboss is killed, it is not triggered, since endbosses do not count as bosses for this. Maybe there's a way to make this trigger when the final boss dies, too - or the other way round, make it appear earlier, when the kill counter is lower, so you may get the bonus when you kill the actual boss who holds the boss key / dungeon key. --Golgarit Raven 01:01, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Blizzard Sabatoge? Data Corruption? Or Absolute Misunderstanding of Players?

how in the world is it, that they took the abilities that players with experience, passion, dedication and loyalty for over 5 years have come to know and love. without first, consulting or considering ADDING without SUBTRACTING, improving.. improvements? Increase hero battles to the following, 3 options, multi team, multi hero team, also having up to 8 hero battles, lets just say, i can think of at least 5 and so can hundreds of others.. but onward.

1. to duel and battle without heros in guildhalls. vs adding scrimages to 8v8 with hero/henches like we like..?

2. to erase rather than add to the existing PVP structure, removing hero battles? one of the most unique and strange attractions of all times for something called CODEX which is a begininer and advanced dueling genius engine, but not what were missing in TA or HB.

3. the person who did this either is sabatoging the game, a left over newbie developer from some other project given a startup, or totally just misunderstood the importance of these few factors. by adding codex and even costume (full time not partime ) the game would be richer

additionally make scrim in GH MORE possibility, for personalization and personal style expression, make 8 heroes available, make dbl teams. make insta duels on the spot ANYWHERE in the game. make MULTI GAME QUES for MULTI ARENAs..

im just getting started. were gona explain this to every board in the game.

so my question is. who erased this, who ESPECIALLY removed HERO SCRIMAGE IN GUILDHALL, who DID NOT ADD DUEL but came up with some codex? and can we mix that person into the new dynamic. and most of all, is the person who did these removals a blizzard SPY trying to sabatoge our game? answer? YES by accident or not. and also for AION. so lets fix this immediately. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.199.65.205 (talk).

[edit] White Boxes

When I logged onto Guild Wars some of the players and a couple of the henchman appear as white cubes instead of their characters. Do you know what I can do to change that?
--PwnFile:User I pwn you now Lightning Bolt.JPG 19:19, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

That's a bit strange. I've seen something like this when I encountered items I've never seen before (i.e. the game hasn't decompressed/loaded the file for them yet), I equipped a new skin shield and it was a giant white block around my character. ^_^ This problem usually fixes itself with a little time, so wait a few days and see if it goes away.
If it doesn't go away, then it could also be a corruption in your GW.dat file where it stores the NPC or the armor that your guild mates were wearing. I once had a problem with NPC animations being all screwed up, and it was fixed when I refreshed the file. (The reason my file got corrupted was because I got bad RAM chips on my new laptop, and it kept happening again and again until I finally changed out the RAM.) So, delete GW.dat completely and download again. It's huge and requires a lot of time to download and decompress, even on fast connections, so I suggest doing it overnight or while you leave to school or work. There is a command that you can use to force it to download and decompress absolutely everything at once, but I've never done it, I just did a plain download through the client, and left for a long time. After that, entering zones for the first time had long load tims, but wasn't a big deal. If you want to use the command, you will need to research that yourself, or maybe someone here will see this and link it for you.
If refreshing the .dat file doesn't work, then you may have a bigger problem, such as your graphics card driver, or the card itself (such as overheating), and I'm not proficient enough to help at that point. Start with the .dat file and see if that helps. Image:User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 21:42, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
luckily I only had to restart the game for it to fix itself! thanks for the tips! :D --PwnFile:User I pwn you now Lightning Bolt.JPG 22:47, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
It's a graphics card glitch, actually. If you're on a computer with a very low-range card, you'll see white boxes, then shadows with no bodies, then full avatars as the appropriate textures load. ··· Danny Pew Pew 19:18, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] CHAT MALFUNCTION

Approximately, every five minutes, chat "loses" multiple players... this has been seen since the new build. Player is summarily dropped and logged out of chat for NO explicable reason as stated approximately every five minutes. this appears to be widespread.

It's only happening to some people in my guild (perhaps 10%). Sometimes, one can reconnect, but usually not. Sometimes you get an error message in attempting to reconnect (#58: no servers appear to be available; this is probably a router problem). In addition, several people are reporting multiple disconnects (entering a town, crossing a portal, map travel).   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:34, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ranged weapon glitch

For the past month I've been getting a bug/glitch with ranged weapons. When I shoot at an enemy NPC I could be the game equivalent of 20 ft away or standing right next to them and the game tells me my shot is obstructed. I've even run back a short distance to get them to follow me, thinking maybe they're in a wall or something (even though I can see them plain as day), and that doesn't help. Its only ranged weapons, when I switched from bow/spear to a sword I could do damage.

Were you on a bridge? Image:User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 02:39, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah! Same thing has been happening to me!! On both my paragon and ranger, I've stood ADJACENT to foes and still get the target obstructed message when there was CLEARLY nothing blocking. --MushaTalk 03:23, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
There are certain objects in the game that block shots, even though you appear to be able to see your target. I think it's both fair to classify them as both bugs (game does not behave as expected by player) and intended behavior (developers trade off real world physics for playability and reduced computing power). Whatever we call it, in GW this happens more frequently near stairs, bridges, steep slopes, corners, and the occasional fixed object (e.g. benches). This less frequently affects close-ranged weapons, because the game only needs to check once for obstacles (rather than reviewing an entire projectile arc). The typical work around is to change your attack angle, not just your distance (e.g. gaining height, moving away from a corner, moving the targets away from the potential obstacle, etc.).   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:37, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
I've had this happen a lot near walls in the building with the sin boss in Pongmei. I've also had foes (and chests) spawn inside the trunk of a fat tree. What really bugs me is when a chest spawns on one of the unreachable islands with the catapults in the Ice Caves mission when you follow the Mursaat in the end. But this "obstructed in the open" bug isn't something they can fix without spending unreal amounts of time reviewing every wall, bridge, rock, etc. in every explorable in the game to make sure that a foe cannot enter behind objects that were supposed to be unpassable. And even then, bridges will still be a problem, because as you know there is no z-axis in GW so to speak, so targets on top of a bridge can miraculously be attacked in melee from down below, and vice versa, an aoe spell can be cast and affect everyone on top and below at the same time, but ranged attacks will still be blocked by the bridge, often when the target is right next to you.
