Major Regions

Tyria and the surrounding islands are divided into several major regions

Regions in Guild Wars Prophecies

• Ascalon: The remains of a once great kingdom lay in ruins here in the northeastern area of the continent.
• Kryta: A lush and green area found in the central-western area of the continent.
• The Shiverpeak Mountains: A giant mountain chain that acts as a divider running north to south between Ascalon and Kryta. The Shiverpeak Mountains have two subregions accessible in the Prophecies campaign.
  • The Northern Shiverpeaks
  • The Southern Shiverpeaks
• The Maguuma Jungle: A dense jungle found in the western area of the continent.
• The Crystal Desert: A barren desert found in the southeastern area of the continent.
• The Ring of Fire Islands: An island chain found past the southwestern shores of the continent.

Regions in Eye of the North

• The Far Shiverpeaks: The homeland of the Norn, beyond the Northern Shiverpeaks.
• The Tarnished Coast: A tropical region south of the Maguuma jungle.
• The Charr Homelands: A verdant region north of Ascalon.
• The Verdant Cascades: An equally verdant region north of Kryta.
• Sparkfly Swamp: A moderately swampy region west of the Southern Shiverpeaks.

Inaccessible regions

• The remnants of the peninsula of Orr.
• The Blazeridge Mountains which separate Ascalon from the Crystal Desert.

Getting there

Getting to Tyria requires a valid Prophecies or Eye of the North access key to have been added to your account. Once added, you can either create a new Prophecies character via the character selection screen*, or take an existing character over by completing one of the following quests:

*Only if you have a Prophecies key.

From Cantha

• Take the quest Chaos in Kryta from Guardsman Chienpo in Kaineng Center.

From Elona

• Take the quest Terror in Tyria from Deras Tenderlin in Kamadan, Jewel of Istan.
• Note: You must have reached the Consulate Docks outpost (by completing The Time is Nigh) for this quest to be obtainable.
