Skill trainer

A skill trainer is an NPC that teaches a roleplaying character new skills. Skill trainers generally have a standard set of skills which they offer in addition to any non-elite skills in the current campaign that the account has unlocked.
A skill trainer can be easily identified by the "[Skills]" suffix in their name.
To purchase a skill, a skill point (
) and an amount of gold is required. The amount of gold depends on the number of skills that have been previously purchased. The first skill purchased costs 50
; the cost progresses up to 1
if over 20 skills have been purchased (from any trainer). In total, the first 20 skills cost you 6100
.
The following table shows the progression of gold cost for each skill purchased:

PvE has several alternatives to skill trainers which may be worth considering:
- Skill quests. Many early quests are fast and easy, however many quests later in Prophecies can take quite a while. Additionally, it may be worthwhile to buy certain skills before they become available from quests.
- Skill Tomes, which only allow characters to learn skills that have already been unlocked, but do not require skill points, and may be cheaper than learning skills from a skill trainer.
- Signets of Capture, which can be used to learn skills which have not yet been unlocked.
- Hero skill trainers, NPCs in Nightfall and Eye of the North who offer a few skills for one hero skill point each, with no gold cost.
