This article is about the post-searing NPC, Nicholas the Traveler. For the younger, pre-Searing NPC, see Nicholas Sandford.
Nicholas the Traveler provides Gifts of the Traveler in exchange for various items to those that can find him. His location and requested item changes weekly, which occurs at 15:00 UTC (7:00 AM PST) on Monday.
Each account is limited to 5 Gifts of the Traveler per week. This limit is per location, and resets every week on Monday at the same time he moves.

Location
- for the week beginning 30th November 2009 (previous appearances are documented on the research page)
- Southern Shiverpeaks
- Snake Dance (collecting 2 Frosted Griffon Wings per gift)
Dialogue
His dialogue changes each week depending on the item he's looking for. The current one is:
- "Snowy slopes make for dangerous hopes. That doesn't sound quite right, does it? No matter: I know firsthand that the slopes here are slippery and treacherous. Used to be I wouldn't go anywhere near them. But I befriended the locals and familiarized myself with their ways. Watch and learn, I always say. In time, I discovered that Frosted Griffon Wings, scavenged from the fallen, are the ideal material for traction on snowy paths and frozen hills. If you come across any, I need 2 to make adequate footwear, even though my friend will rightly insist that nothing compares to dolyak feet."
Previous dialogue can be seen on the dialogue page
Notes
- Before the Searing, Nicholas the Traveler was known as Nicholas Sandford.
- For more information on how to collect the item he wants, see the guide on PvX wiki.
- Nicholas has occasionally been found facing a random object, obstructive landscape, or a wall.
- Nicholas will not spawn if you have any active quest in your quest log that alters spawns in the area. Complete the quest or abandon the quest and rezone.
- Nicholas will not interact with you if you meet with him after he is supposed to move (by entering his area shortly before he would be moved, and talking to him after the scheduled move time).
Sometimes, his greeting and/or reward text is not translated into one or more non-English languages. Typically, this gets corrected by any mid-week game update.
Trivia
- Trivia related to Nicholas' dialogue can be seen on the dialogue page.
- Nicholas always travels with Professor Yakkington.
- According to John Hargrove, Nicholas the Traveler is also known internally as "Project Wumpus", which is a reference to the early computer game Hunt the Wumpus. (source).
