Quest information

Objectives

• Rendezvous with the Obsidian Flame and prepare for the assault on the Shadow Blades.
• Lead the Obsidian Flame to the place where the Shadow Blades are meeting. Destroy the rival organization.
• See Guildmaster Luan for your reward.

Walkthrough

This quest is plain and simple: meet the Obsidian Flames (which you will have as allies in your party) and move to the point where the Shadow Blades are. After a few lines of dialogue, they will turn hostile. Kill them and map back to Kaineng Center for your reward.

The Obsidian Flames will be waiting for you close to the Bukdek Byway exit to The Undercity. The place you have to reach is near the Resurrection Shrine that lies in the middle of the way to the Wajjun Bazaar exit, and the path is packed with Afflicted.

While it seems logical to start from Bukdek Byway, it is much easier to backtrack from Wajjun Bazaar, especially if you are using henchmen or heroes. Before you reach the shrine, you will face small bands of Am Fah, easily dispatched, and a large group following Chan the Dragon's Blood. If you do not wish to engage him, just wait: he and all the enemies surrounding him will move out of your way. After the shrine, try not to aggro too many Afflicted. Flag your henchmen afar and pull one group at a time. When you finally reach the Obsidian Flames, the way you have to lead them through will be completely clean of hostile creatures.

If you start from Bukdek Byway, you will have to face a higher risk of overaggroing. Many afflicted will spawn simultaneously from a hole in the ground close to The Afflicted Miju, and the nearby bridges might also prove a nightmare for proper pulling.

Dialogue

Initial dialogue

Guildmaster Luan

"The Shadow Blades have made a grievous error. I have ordered a group of our most skilled assassins to meet you in the Undercity. You will lead them to the Shadow Blades and destroy them. Show no mercy."

Accept: "No mercy will be shown. You have my word."

Decline: "Fight you own battles."

When asked about quest: "Now is the time to show your loyalty to the Obsidian Flame. Descend into the Shenzun Tunnels and lead those who await you to the Shadow Blades."

Intermediate dialogue

Shadow Blade Assassin: "Once we assassinate Guildmaster Luan, we will cut through the rest of them with ease."

Shadow Blade Assassin: "Nika is mine. Her blades took three of my fingers!"

Shadow Blade Assassin: "The Obsidian Flame has found us! Kill them all!"

Obsidian Flame Assassin: "Come and face your nightmare, Shadow Blades."

After you defeat the Shadow Blades:

Obsidian Flame Assassin: "We will remain here and deal with any others who arrive. Report back to Guildmaster Luan. Now!"

Reward dialogue

Guildmaster Luan

"You have done well. The Shadow Blades were a dishonor to all Assassins, giving thought only to their coin purse and not the art of the profession."

Notes

While the "When asked about quest" dialogue directs you to Shenzun Tunnels, all the action in this quest takes place in the Undercity.

Bug.

If you kill the first Shadow Blade member to turn hostile too quickly, the others will not turn hostile, preventing you from completing the quest. But if you wait for about thirty minutes, they'll finally turn hostile so you can complete the quest. If you don't immediately attack the first Shadow Blade member to turn hostile, he will attack the other Shadow Blade member (which haven't become hostile yet). You can sit back and enjoy the show while he kills his comrades.
