Heal
From Guild Wars Wiki
Healing is both a general term for the act of gaining health and a specific mechanical term related to certain effects that grant health. The healing player and healed player see blue numbers showing the amount healed. Blue numbers are shown even when no HP are actually gained (usually because the character is at full Health).
Healing modifiers
The Aura of Faith, Healer's Boon and Life Attunement enchantments increase healing, and the Defile Flesh, Lingering Curse, Malign Intervention, Mark of Death hexes, Predatory Season nature ritual, and Deep Wound condition reduce healing. These effects stack multiplicatively. Healing reduction from multiple sources only stacks to -40%.
Healing vs. Health gain
Healing is not the only source of Health gain. Health regeneration, Life stealing and most effects described as causing the target to "gain Health" rather than be "healed" do not count as healing, bypassing the effects of hexes triggered by healing. Confusingly, many of these effects (for instance, the health granted by Aura of Restoration, Divine Favor, Reversal of Fortune, etc.) *are* affected by healing modification but do not trigger effects such as Scourge Healing.
In general, healing modification will affect anything other than health gained from lifestealing and regeneration; only particular effects trigger Scourge Healing and Soul Bind. All direct heals (Word of Healing, Mend Body and Soul, Healing Signet, Ether Feast, etc.) trigger them, but many other effects (Vigorous Spirit, Divine Boon, Healing Seed) do not.
